Huge news: SOAPnet.com can exclusively confirm that Jason Cook is joining the cast of "General Hospital." Jason is best known as Shawn Brady, the "Days of Our Lives" character he played from 1999 to 2006. Shawn was one half of "Shawn and Belle," known by longtime fans as "Shelle" -- the pair who put the "super" back in supercouple in fictional Salem. And just who played Belle? That's right: Kirsten Storms, aka resident "General Hospital" fashionista Maxie Jones.

Jason will be playing a doctor who joins the staff at Port Charles's infamous hospital; no first airdate has been set, but he'll likely start appearing in June. We CAN tell you his character will be crossing paths with Maxie very early on. Could there be a "Shelle" redux? You'll have to stay tuned for more details!

all I know is that i'm BEYOND excited? I never accepted anyone else as Shawn and Belle - their chem is undeniable.

Whether or not the writers pair these two again, i'll just be excited to see JC back on daytime, and excited for JC and KS to share some screentime.

I really loved Shelle and Jason Cook! it'll be nice to see him, i haven't seen him on tv since he left Days.

However, this makes me nervous being a huge Spixie fan. I hope they don't pair his character with Maxie because i want Spixie so badly.

I would love them to pair them together. I love Spixie but just as friends so I would love to see him and KS share scenes together.

jason cook is just so yummy. i want his character and maxie to b in scenes together but i dont think i want them as a couple. we got them on days, we dont need them again on GH. granted, if we ever got ME from OLTL they would so put him with KeMo, aka, caleb/livvie... they were wicked...

back on point. spixie yes... romantic togetherness...eh. i like them as they r now.

Can I say how Super Excited I am? .... I love Bradford and Spinelli..... but The Jackel better not get in my Shelle's way.

They so need to let Spinelli get the girl.... but they let the girl get away.... But I love Jason and Kirsten together and can't wait to see them on my screen again. It's also like Steve and Ava on days now... Can't remember the actor who plays Steve and I don't think Tamara and him really worked together in scene on GH, but still same show.... I love when the actors work together in many projects..... as I go off into a rant, I can name a few who have worked together on GH and on another show.

Back to the board... yay Jason Cook will be on my screen again....

I was so excited about this to start off with. I think they're already kind of hinting that Matt Hunter will be involved with maxie...which is what I wanted - KS and JC together again. I like the Spixie friendship, but I dont' see it going beyond that.

BUT...I'm scared to get excited for a pairing again. I love my LnL3 and look what guz did to my couple! Look what guz does to all the characters! I don't want to get invested again and be disappointed...

that's the exact reason i quit watching GH... no matter what character/couple you get invested in, all you get is disappointment!

i might have to tune in for a bit to see JC on GH

I just WANT to like the show, cuz the actors are great and the character basis is good. They're just written horribly! How sucky is that?
